Youth Sector are taking aim at pride in English patriotism with their latest single, ‘Is Blood’

Social commentary delivered by the medium of razor-sharp indie brilliance.

Youth Sector have debuted a new single, ‘Is Blood’.

The track is the latest to arrive from their forthcoming new EP ‘Adult Contemporary’, set to be released on 18th February 2022 via Family Values.

Speaking about the track, guitarist and lead vocalist Nick Tompkins explains: “This one comes from a growing distaste and bewilderment for people in England who are so proud to be English. The song is an attempt to weigh up ‘patriotism’ with the fact that this country, our wealth and our position in the world was built on the suffering of others – we are not deserving of it and it shouldn’t be a source of pride and entitlement. It was written while the BLM riots were in full swing where ‘all lives matter’ started cropping up not just from anonymous internet trolls but people I knew also which was sickening and disorientating.”

Social commentary delivered by the medium of razor-sharp indie brilliance that, even with the serious subject matter, can’t help but get those toes tapping, you can check out ‘Is Blood’ below.
