About Geordie Greep
Geordie Wade Greep, born on 20 August 1999, is an English musician known for his role as the frontman and lead guitarist of the band Black Midi from 2017 to 2024. While attending the BRIT School, he met Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin, Cameron Picton, and Morgan Simpson, with whom he formed Black Midi. The band began performing live at the Brixton pub The Windmill, which was the only venue to respond to Greep's emails requesting gigs. After signing with Rough Trade Records in 2019, Black Midi released three studio albums: Schlagenheim, Cavalcade, and Hellfire. Following the band's hiatus, Greep pursued a solo career and released his debut studio album, The New Sound, via Rough Trade Records on 4 October 2024. He is recognized for his distinctive singing voice, partly attributed to his accent, which has been described as "geographically unclassifiable." Greep's songwriting often features dramatic narratives centered on specific characters, as exemplified in the Black Midi song "John L."
He's got a load of tour dates coming up, too.
