Childhood pull off one of the sets of the weekend at Latitude 2017
With a fairly lengthy soundcheck eating into the planned start time, the packed tent for Childhood begins to get a bit agitated after hearing "we need more guitar in the wedge" for the umpteenth time. The moment frontman Ben declares they're ready, the tent erupts into cheers, and the band prove it was more than worth the wait. Bringing a whole world of funk, soul, a little bit of indie and a lot of rock'n'roll, Childhood put on a show for the ages with no holding back. Ben launches into the air at every interval. The humidity of the tent increases as the set progresses, with little relent. Ben's natural charisma matches the strength of his voice, which travels between angelic highs and soulful lows. The band are tighter than ever, and with an added horn section, it all grows to be a lesson in how to perform. ‘Californian Light' gets a rapturous crowd reaction, with the entire tent dancing. With music coursing through their veins, Childhood pull off one of the sets of the weekend. Photos: Poppy Marriott / Dork
