I'm a dropout
Never fit in to their talk or boxes
I just walked out
Live on the fringes
Now I'm an outcast that they chat 'bout
Walked on my own route
ET, proud
Never had a doubt then
Battled many bouts
Wasn't no Habesha around
I did it for the Black and brown
And to lift the Puget Sound
Scene blew, now I'm prodigal
I grew and found these articles
These pieces of myself and breath
Scattered cross these continents
My life is like a consequence
A complex mix of colonizers and resistance
Still fit no mold
I did it to the grow
There is no ceiling when healing is your goal
I flow to feel an ocean in me
Freedom is our destiny
While traveling, unraveling
Learning more what matters
And accepting all my faults and strength
Power, let it emanate
I pray through music
That's my way to say thanks

May what I do everyday honor you in every way
To be the light I seek for me I'm still learning grace
And even when I stray I pray to still keep faith
This isn't bout religion
But it is
Something different
But it's not
A breath hidden under every tongue we talk
And every path we walk to get to the mountaintop
I believe in the mountain, however you say God
Not all those who wander are lost
