With his new three-track EP ‘People’, Niko B continues to be refreshingly, almost defiantly genuine – it feels like stumbling into the best pool party of the summer, where everyone’s already two drinks in and nobody’s trying too hard to impress.

Opening track ‘Hairclips’ sparkles with the kind of carefree energy that almost recalls Calvin Harris during his breakthrough era but filtered through Niko’s own distinct low-key lens. The synths float like ice cubes in a perfectly mixed drink while the production maintains that signature DIY charm that’s become his calling card. ‘I like the way you talk’ keeps the momentum rolling, proving that sometimes the simplest pleasures – like a well-crafted dance track – are the most satisfying.

But it’s closing track ‘What am i to do’ where Niko B truly shines brightest: a much-needed lesson in finding joy in life’s little mishaps. From stepping in a puddle (“I love the sound when it’s raining”) to a bird attacking your wife (“At least I’ve got a wife, and I got to see that bird up close”), it’s delivered with the kind of wit that makes you wonder why more people don’t embrace pure, unfiltered fun. The track bounces with an infectious optimism, each verse building on the last.

Where ‘dog eat dog food world’ dwelled in murkier waters, ‘People’ emerges into the light without losing its substance. It’s a brilliant pivot – trading introspection for celebration while keeping its heart firmly in the right place.
