About Becky G

Rebbeca Marie Gomez (born March 2, 1997), known professionally as Becky G, is an American singer and actress. She first gained recognition in 2011 through cover versions of popular songs uploaded to YouTube. Her debut single, "Becky from the Block", and debut EP, "Play It Again", were released in 2013. In 2014, she achieved mainstream success with the single "Shower", which reached the top twenty of the US Billboard Hot 100. In 2016, she released her first full Spanish-language single, "Sola", marking her entry into the Latin music market.

Gomez has released four studio albums. Her debut album, "Mala Santa" (2019), included the singles "Mayores" and "Sin Pijama", both of which reached the top five of the Hot Latin Songs chart, while "Cuando Te Besé" topped the Argentina Hot 100. Her second album, "Esquemas" (2022), included the number-one Hot Latin Songs single "Mamiii". Her third and fourth albums, the regional Mexican projects "Esquinas" (2023) and "Encuentros" (2024), produced the Regional Mexican Airplay number-one singles "Por el Contrario" and "Mercedes". As an actress, Gomez has appeared in films including "Power Rangers" (2017), "A.X.L." (2018), "Blue Beetle" (2023), and "Rebbeca" (2025), as well as television series such as "Austin & Ally" (2015) and "Empire" (2015).

Throughout her career, Gomez has received several awards and nominations, including American Music Awards, Billboard Latin Music Awards, Latin American Music Awards, Lo Nuestro Awards, People's Choice Awards, and Premios Juventud. She founded the cosmetics company Treslúce Beauty, which operated from 2021 to 2024. She was included in Forbes' "30 Under 30" list in 2023 and Time's "100" list in 2025. Gomez has also been recognized with honors including Billboard's Impact Award in 2023 and the Global Impact Award in 2026. Outside of entertainment, she has supported causes related to immigrant rights, gender equality, mental health awareness, and Latino community empowerment.

Rebbeca Marie Gomez was born in Inglewood, California, to American parents of Mexican descent, Francisco Gomez and Alejandra Esquivias. She is the oldest of four children and has two younger brothers, a younger sister, and a younger half-sister from her father's side. Her grandparents emigrated from Jalisco, Mexico. Gomez grew up in Moreno Valley, California, and her family experienced financial difficulties during her childhood, at one point living in a converted garage at her grandparents' home. During this period, she worked in commercials and voice-over roles to help support her family.

Gomez initially attended public school before switching to homeschooling due to bullying. She began pursuing entertainment work at a young age and appeared in the short film "El Tux" (2008) and the Discovery Channel television film "La estación de la Calle Olvera" (2008). She was also a member of the music brand Kidz Bop and later joined the girl group G.L.A.M. and the duo B.C.G. During her early teens, Gomez began recording covers and original songs using GarageBand and uploading them to YouTube. She taught herself guitar and collaborated with the production duo The Jam on various online covers. After producer Dr. Luke discovered her cover of "Otis" in 2011, she signed with Kemosabe Records through RCA Records.

In 2012, Gomez appeared on Cody Simpson's single "Wish U Were Here" and released "Problem (The Monster Remix)" featuring will.i.am for the film "Hotel Transylvania". She also featured on Cher Lloyd's single "Oath", which became her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. Other collaborations during this period included work with Michel Telo, Kesha, Juicy J, and Wiz Khalifa.

In 2013, Gomez released her debut single "Becky from the Block", inspired by Jennifer Lopez's "Jenny from the Block". Lopez appeared in the song's music video. Gomez later released the EP "Play It Again", which included tracks such as "Built for This". She also collaborated with the Mexican DJ trio 3Ball MTY on "Quiero Bailar (All Through the Night)".

In 2014, Gomez released "Can't Get Enough" featuring Pitbull and the single "Shower", which became her breakthrough hit internationally. She subsequently toured as an opening act for Demi Lovato and Katy Perry. Additional releases included "Can't Stop Dancin'" and collaborations with J Balvin and Thalia. In 2015, Gomez released "Lovin' So Hard", appeared in two episodes of the television series "Empire", and joined J Balvin on the "La Familia Tour". She also collaborated with Yellow Claw and was cast as Trini Kwan, the Yellow Ranger, in the film "Power Rangers".

Beginning in 2016, Gomez increasingly focused on Spanish-language music. She released "Sola" and later "Mangu", while also collaborating with artists such as Yandel and Lil Jon. In 2017, she released "Todo Cambió" and appeared in "Power Rangers", which premiered in Berlin and introduced one of the first openly queer superheroes in a mainstream superhero film. That year, she also collaborated with Axel, Leslie Grace, Lindsey Stirling, and others, hosted the Latin American Music Awards, and voiced a character in the animated film "Gnome Alone".

During 2018, Gomez collaborated with a wide range of international artists, including Karol G, Sean Paul, David Guetta, Daddy Yankee, Bad Bunny, Natti Natasha, Joss Favela, C. Tangana, and Prince Royce. She also starred in the science fiction film "A.X.L.". Her collaborations during this period expanded her presence in Latin pop, reggaeton, and regional Mexican music.

In 2019, Gomez released the singles "LBD" and "Green Light Go", embarked on a tour of Spanish-speaking countries, and collaborated with artists including Maluma, Zayn Malik, Akon, Saweetie, and J-Hope. Her debut studio album, "Mala Santa", was released in October 2019. The album combined reggaeton, Latin pop, and urbano influences and achieved commercial success on Latin music charts. Singles from the album included "Mayores", "Sin Pijama", "Cuando Te Besé", "Dollar", and the title track. Gomez also hosted the 2019 MTV Europe Music Awards and participated in the virtual music group True Damage for the video game "League of Legends".

In 2020, Gomez collaborated with Carlos Rivera, Gente de Zona, Black Eyed Peas, Ozuna, Banda MS, and Snoop Dogg, among others. She also hosted and produced the podcast "En La Sala", which featured guests from entertainment and politics.

In 2021, Gomez released collaborations with Burna Boy, Kevvo, Christina Aguilera, Maria Becerra, Sofia Reyes, and others. She launched the Facebook Watch talk show "Face to Face with Becky G" and contributed music to projects such as "Money Heist" and "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run".

In 2022, Gomez served as a judge and executive producer on the television competition series "Becoming a Popstar". She released her second studio album, "Esquemas", which combined reggaeton, Latin pop, and dance-pop influences. The album included the singles "Ram Pam Pam", "Fulanito", "Mamiii", and "Bailé Con Mi Ex". "Mamiii", a collaboration with Karol G, became one of her most commercially successful songs. Gomez also appeared in the film "Good Mourning" and collaborated with artists including Tini, Anitta, and Daviles de Novelda.

In 2023, Gomez released singles including "Te Quiero Besar" and "Arranca", performed at the Coachella Festival, and voiced Khaji-Da in the film "Blue Beetle". She embarked on her first headlining tour, the "Mi Casa, Tu Casa Tour". Her third studio album, "Esquinas", was released in September 2023 and focused on regional Mexican music styles such as mariachi and corridos tumbados. The album featured collaborations with Peso Pluma, Gabito Ballesteros, Ivan Cornejo, Angela Aguilar, and Leonardo Aguilar.

In 2024, Gomez released songs including "Boomerang", "Tonight", and "Flores Pa Ti", while collaborating with artists such as Tyla, Feid, and Luisa Sonza. She hosted the Latin American Music Awards and signed management deals with WME and State of the Art. Her fourth studio album, "Encuentros", was released in October 2024 and incorporated mariachi, ranchera, corrido, reggaeton, and bolero influences. The album included the singles "Mercedes", "Como Diablos", and "Otro Capítulo". Gomez also launched her second headlining tour, the "Casa Gomez: Otro Capítulo Tour".

In 2025, Gomez collaborated with Jessie Reyez, Davido, and Manuel Turizo. She was also the subject of the documentary film "Rebbeca", directed by Jennifer Tiexiera, which focused on the making of her first regional Mexican album and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Additional projects included the single "Hablamos Mañana" and appearances on songs by Bia and other artists.

As of 2026, Gomez is attached to star in the film "Baton", directed by Danny Ramirez.
