Pick what you like
Type the name of an artist you love and pick them from the list. Add more — the more seeds you give the Recommender, the sharper the suggestions become.
Get real recommendations
Every pick re-ranks the suggestions live. We score artists using a graph of roughly 545,000 connections across 74,000 artists, plus our own editorial coverage, scenes and labels — so every recommendation is a real artist Dork writes about.

Frequently asked
How does the Dork Recommender work?
+
Type the name of an artist you like. The Recommender looks at the 545,000-strong graph of artist connections we maintain, plus scene and label data, and suggests acts in a similar orbit. The more seeds you add, the smarter the recommendations get — every artist that appears under more than one of your picks floats up the list.
Where does the data come from?
+
Our recommendations are built from Last.fm listener data, MusicBrainz metadata, editorial coverage on Dork, and our own taxonomy of scenes, labels and credits across more than 74,000 artists. We only recommend acts that actually have a profile on Dork, so every suggestion is a real link you can follow.
Can I make a Spotify playlist from my recommendations?
+
Yes. Once you have a list of artists you like the look of, sign in with Spotify and we will create a private playlist in your Spotify account using top tracks from each recommended artist. If you prefer not to sign in you can grab a shareable list to copy into any music app.
Will the Recommender help me find new bands?
+
That is the whole point. The Recommender is built to help you discover acts you have not heard yet, pulling from artists Dork has written about and artists in the wider musical graph who belong alongside your favourites.
Is it free?
+
Yes. Completely free to use, no sign-in required to get recommendations.
Share your Recommender URL
Every seed list gets its own URL. Copy the address bar after picking your favourites — anyone who opens the link will land on the same recommendations you did.
