Chase & Status are an English drum and bass duo consisting of Saul Milton (Chase) and Will Kennard (Status). The group formed in 2003 after meeting at university in Manchester. They have released seven studio albums and collaborated with artists including Plan B, CeeLo Green, Rihanna, Example, Tinie Tempah, and Stormzy. Andy Gangadeen performs drums during live shows. MC Rage was a member until July 2021, when he left to pursue solo projects. The duo operate the independent record label MTA Records. William Kennard founded ELAM (East London Arts and Music) in 2014. In 2023–24, Chase & Status received their first Brit Award for Producer of the Year. Their album 2 Ruff, Vol. 1, reached the top four in the UK charts, with four singles in the top 40 simultaneously, a record for a UK band since 2010. The single "Baddadan" reached the top four of the UK singles chart. In 2024, they achieved a UK number one single with "Backbone," a collaboration with Stormzy.
