Destin Choice Route, born October 31, 1989, is an American rapper known by his stage name JID. He was born and raised in Atlanta. In 2010, he formed the musical collective Spillage Village with EarthGang. He later formed the hip hop group Zoink Gang with Smino, Buddy, and Guapdad 4000. JID signed with J. Cole's Dreamville Records, an imprint of Interscope Records, in 2017. He released several self-produced projects, including Route of Evil (2012), Para Tu (2013), and DiCaprio (2015). His debut studio album, The Never Story (2017), received critical acclaim and featured the single 'Never.' His second album, DiCaprio 2 (2018), included the singles '151 Rum' and 'Off Deez' (with J. Cole), and also received positive reviews. In 2021, his single 'Enemy' (with Imagine Dragons), which served as the opening theme for Netflix's Arcane, peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100, marking his highest-charting song to date. JID is recognized for his fluent rapping style and use of wordplay.
