
Kaki King, born Katherine Elizabeth King on August 24, 1979, is an American guitarist and composer. She is recognized for her percussive and jazz-influenced melodies, energetic live performances, and the use of multiple tunings on acoustic and lap steel guitars. Her musical work spans various genres. In February 2006, Rolling Stone included her in its list of "The New Guitar Gods," where she was the only woman and the youngest artist, surpassing Derek Trucks by two months in age. Her discography includes six LPs and three EPs. She has also composed music for television and film, notably collaborating with Eddie Vedder and Michael Brook on the soundtrack for Sean Penn's film Into the Wild, which earned a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Original Score.
