Leftfield is a British electronic music group formed in London in 1989. The group consists of Neil Barnes and Paul Daley, the latter formerly of The Rivals and A Man Called Adam. They were influential in the development of electronic music in the 1990s. Mixmag described them as "the single most influential production team working in British dance music." The duo is known for collaborating with guest vocalists, including Toni Halliday on 'Original,' Johnny Rotten on 'Open Up,' Djum Djum on 'Afro-Left,' Earl 16 and Cheshire Cat on 'Release the Pressure,' and Grian Chatten of Fontaines D.C. on 'Full Way Round.' Their style has been associated with the term progressive house, characterized by a fusion of house music with dub and reggae influences. The group experienced a hiatus from 2002 to 2010, during which Barnes revived Leftfield but Daley chose not to participate, focusing on his solo career. Following their return, Barnes completed work on a third album, 'Alternative Light Source,' released in 2015.
