Local Natives announce the departure of founding member Kelcey Ayer
Ayer's departure comes shortly after the release of their twin albums 'Time Will Wait For No One' and 'But I’ll Wait For You'.

Local Natives is an American indie rock band formed in Orange County, California, and based in Los Angeles. The band includes Taylor Rice (vocals, guitar), Ryan Hahn (guitar, backing vocals), Matthew Frazier (drums), and Nik Ewing (bass, keyboards, vocals). Kelcey Ayer, a former co-lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, was a member from 2005 until 2024. The band was originally called Cavil at Rest before adopting the name Local Natives in 2008, named after the house the members shared in Orange County. Their debut album, Gorilla Manor, was released in 2009. Their second album, Hummingbird, was released in 2013 and produced by Aaron Dessner; its lyrics were influenced by the departure of bassist Andy Hamm and the death of Ayer's mother. The third album, Sunlit Youth, came out in September 2016, followed by Violet Street in April 2019. After experiencing personal turmoil, the band recorded their fifth and sixth albums, Time Will Wait for No One and But I'll Wait for You, released in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
