Shinedown is an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2001 by singer Brent Smith after the breakup of his previous band, Dreve. Smith recruited Jasin Todd on guitar, Brad Stewart on bass, and Barry Kerch on drums as the original lineup. The band released seven studio albums: Leave a Whisper (2003), Us and Them (2005), The Sound of Madness (2008), Amaryllis (2012), Threat to Survival (2015), Attention Attention (2018), and Planet Zero (2022). Their eighth album, Eight, is scheduled for release in May 2026. The band has achieved 22 number-one singles on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, the most of any artist, with all singles reaching the top five. On June 3, 2021, Billboard ranked Shinedown number one on the Greatest of All Time Mainstreams Rock Artists chart. The group's lineup experienced several changes in the late 2000s but stabilized with Smith, Kerch, Zach Myers on guitar, and Eric Bass on bass.
