Social Distortion is an American punk rock band formed in 1978 in Fullerton, California. The band was initially part of the Orange County hardcore scene of the late 1970s, alongside groups such as Agent Orange and the Adolescents. The lineup has included Mike Ness (vocals, guitar), Jonny Wickersham (guitar), Brent Harding (bass), and David Hidalgo Jr. (drums), with Ness being the only constant member. The band experienced a temporary hiatus in the mid-1980s due to Ness's drug addiction and legal issues, which led to extended periods in rehabilitation centers. After reforming, the band shifted its style toward influences from country, blues, and early rock and roll. Past members have included guitarist Dennis Danell, bassist John Maurer, and drummers Christopher Reece and Charlie Quintana. Over its 48-year history, Social Distortion has released seven studio albums, two compilations, one live album, and two DVDs. Their early albums include 'Mommy's Little Monster' (1983) and 'Prison Bound' (1988), before signing a three-album contract with Epic Records in 1989. The band continues to perform and record music.
