Sunn O))) is an American drone metal band formed in 1998 in Seattle, Washington. The band is known for its slow, heavy sound that combines elements of doom metal, drone, black metal, and dark ambient. Their live performances are characterized by high volume levels. The core members are Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson, both of whom have been involved in other bands such as Khanate, Burning Witch, Goatsnake, and Engine Kid.
