It adds to the frenzy that has seen Lemonsuckr grow into a must-see band, with fans already figuring out when they can catch them live again just two songs into a set. "We've always wanted to give it everything we have on-stage," continues Oscar, "but it was only really at Dot To Dot when the climbing shit started to happen. Then it was like, well, if we've done it at that show, then the next show we have to do it again, and then we'll have to do it again at the next show!"

"I'm hoping people start to understand that if they're going to be in the front row for one of our shows, there is a real chance you might get smacked in the mouth by us. Accidentally, of course. I've already chipped my tooth last year with a microphone," cracks Guy.

It might be only a matter of time before Ollie falls off a bar, but it's that level of unpredictability that has catapulted them to the front of a buzzy new wave of bands, making the live show bigger and more encompassing than ever. "Even saying that, it really hasn't been that long since we started really doing this y'know? We're still testing the waters for how far we can push it. Like, I watch gigs by bands like Turnstile and stuff like that, and we can really push this further. We've always wanted to put on a good show, and it's only been recently that we've felt like everything's come together."

"It's clicking," continues Oscar. "There are so many great live bands at the moment, but having the songs stand up in our live show and being able to dance and move around has been really good. When the songs weren't good, it didn't really work."

It's a journey that goes back to teenage years, playing across numerous bands and coming together in 2020, where everyone was playing different instruments and had different roles. Making themselves at home in a shipping container off the A3, they spent their days hanging out and playing. "We had an epiphany that we really wanted to do this," remembers Ollie, "but we were also like - look, there are enough bands out there doing what The Strokes or The Libertines do. We love them, but we can't be yet another band doing that."

Years spent finding their sound saw them experiment in all different directions - "There was some trash that came out of it. We're talking the most average tepid post-punk post-pong you'll hear," states Ollie - before things connected around one song. As Guy recalls, "We were listening to a lot of Gilla Band, Just Mustard and noise-rock, and we thought it was really cool to try and make guitars sound like they're not guitars."

The result, a track called 'Rugrat' (which at one point the band even called themselves), sits on 'Life Is A Heist' as a true culmination of where Lemonsuckr started and what drives them into the next chapter. "I hear it a lot when bands talk about finding themselves in the early days, and they often say that one song feels just like them and opens the doors for everything else," explains Guy. "The song that really represents them, and that song is that for us. It's an identity song that comes from a poem I wrote all about us, our lives and about us as people, and we truly found our sound within that song."

With 'Life Is A Heist', Lemonsuckr are taking the thrills and spills that have drawn people's attention and bottling them into a manifesto of how ambitious they are. Wanting to play, play, play and play, it's a document that builds on their debut 'H.E.A.T' EP and then some, with an arsenal of bangers ready to have venues buckling under its weight. How could those nights get any bigger? "We're going to learn backflips, like a Benson Boone show but with more guitars. Flips left, right and centre, sequin jackets… we're going to be like fucking gymnasts. Brighton's gymnasts," proudly cracks Guy.

"We're gonna have a pommel horse on stage," flies in Ollie, before Oscar makes a larger statement of intent: "You know Cirque Du Soleil? I guess we can be Sück Du Soleil." That's enough to make headlines.

"You know what?" smiles Guy. "The headline should be: 'Forget Benson Boone, it's Benson & Hedges'."
