Lizzy McAlpine has the universe on her side. Outgrowing the bedroom pop of her early career and reaching into the sprawling landscape of unencumbered inspiration, she finds herself at the freest she has ever been. On her newest venture, 'Angel', she combines a spoonful of divine intervention and a heap of shimmering new confidence into an album that lets her spread her wings and learn to fly.

As a new day dawns for Lizzy, she is sitting, drinking water from a mason jar in what looks like a very cosy LA pad. She is also very clear in her thinking; it takes very little time for her to state, defiantly: "I love this music so much; I think it's the best that I've made so far."

In the two years since her last album, 'Older', was released, she hasn't stopped growing. Briefly leaving behind her new Los Angeles home and a plethora of songs she had ready, she took to the stage for her Broadway debut, signed up for soon-to-be-released film and TV roles, and returned home rejuvenated and reinspired.

For anyone who has followed Lizzy's career so far, from 2022's breakout single 'ceilings' through to the present day, it won't be a surprise to learn that she is always on the move, scribbling ideas and noting down moments that she can transform into tracks wrought with emotion and sprinkled with charm.

"I just write when it feels like things need to be said," she levels, "I don't really think, like, 'I should take a break'."
