"It’s been 35 degrees in Bristol, and I’ve been working, delivering everyone’s panic-bought fans and air con units,” says Joe Sherrin, from what sounds like the sweatiest front room in the west. “So now I’m lying in front of five fans looking down at my sleepy daughter to see if she’s noticed my smell too.
Not, on the face of it, the natural habitat of a band about to release the debut album they’ve spent years quietly assembling. Then again, MOULD have never had much time for mystique.
The Bristol three-piece - Sherrin on guitar, Kane Eagle on bass, James Luxton on drums, the first two sharing the singing - have dropped their first full length ‘Hoping As A Coping Mechanism’. They’ve earned the right to it the slow way: a run of grizzled, hook-heavy singles and 6 Music playlist spots, a live reputation built one packed venue at a time. Anxiety, overthinking and the low background hum of being alive in 2026 are the raw materials, but the finished thing is big, communal, faintly battered post-punk.
