PUNCHBAG return with ‘I Am Obsessed’, a second EP that pushes their restless, high-impact pop into sharper, more extreme territory. Where their debut felt like a burst of pent-up energy, this follow-up drills down into the details, amplifying the everyday until it feels distorted and impossible to ignore.
As Clara puts it, “If our first EP was a selfie, these new songs are like zooming in and thinking fucking hell, my pores look huge. This EP is turning up the contrast on everyday life, rinsing the disgusting dish towel so far that all the gunk comes out. It’s pushing PUNCHBAG’s sonic world even further, into a grander landscape, and dramatising the everyday more than ever before.”
WHAT’S IN MY BAG
Clara: Initially inspired by the ‘What’s In My Bag’ lifestyle videos you see online and thinking about how no amount of SPF beauty products can wash away your sins. Essentially, it's about feeling like you're trapped in the trash of your bag, smacking into a granola bar snack here and there. So yes, an everyday feeling. It’s an overdose of overconsumption and feeling ‘trashy’. But somehow in a fun way?
PILE OF CLOTHES
Anders: We feel like everyone has that one pile of clothes in their bedroom, maybe it's on a chair - insert new found word ‘floordrobe’, and this song is just a big pop anthem about that. It’s unserious in a serious way, because let's be honest, I feel like that pile of clothes in your room is a tad universal.
