There is a frog in Really Good Time's garden, and Wastefellow is worried about it.

The band's singer and guitarist begins our conversation from Dublin with what he considers the most pressing news of the day: his housemate has discovered "some kind of big frog" nesting outside, and his initial delight - "I have always considered them quite interesting" - has curdled into unease. There's no pond out there. Ireland is in a heatwave. "I have become slightly concerned for the well-being of the frog," he reports, gravely, "and wonder if it might not be selfish to allow the frog to continue hanging out in our garden, ultimately dooming it to a slow death via dehydration. That being said, I don't really know anything about frogs, so maybe it will be fine."

Keep the frog in mind. It's coming back.

Really Good Time are three Dubliners with names like a lost Beano strip: Wastefellow on guitar and most of the lead vocals, Ado Tornado on drums, Jacque le Coque on bass and, as of recent single 'The Love Song', occasional lead vocals of his own. Their debut album is called 'Affirmations'; it's out now, and presents a band who nearly stopped existing before deciding, actually, not to. Because until last spring, they were four. Founding guitarist The Dúke played his final show with them at SXSW, leaving amicably to, as Wastefellow puts it, "work on a beautiful family, which is sort of like an album but made out of human beings and memories rather than songs".
