2026 marks ten years of Tove Lo's breakout album 'Lady Wood', one of the most gloriously forward-thinking and joyful pop albums of recent-ish years. But beyond a potential vinyl re-release, the Swedish star has no real plans to celebrate it. "An anniversary tour? That's something I'll do when I'm 80," she grins. Nostalgia can wait. "I still feel so in the middle of it all."

Instead, Tove Lo is releasing album six. While 2022's 'Dirt Femme' was a 30-something coming-of-age record that wrestled with femininity, marriage and being an independent artist for the first time in her career, sixth album 'Estrus' (the biological term for the reproductive phase when a female mammal is in heat) goes pretty much everywhere. It starts with the disco strut of 'a lot of feelings, no solutions' with Tove Lo singing "I got a lot of anger, but no retributions" over a ferocious burst of synth pop before the 50-second track jumps straight into the blissed out self-acceptance of 'I'm your girl right?'. From there, the 13-track album bounces between lust, love, self-destruction and late-night transcendence, as Tove Lo doubles down on genre-hopping freedom and her own complex emotions. "It's all over the place, but maybe there's a beauty in the contradictions."
