Wardogs error codes explained: which fixes to try, and when to wait
Authentication failures, full servers, timeouts and anti-cheat messages call for different responses. Here are the low-risk checks worth making before you change anything substantial.
Wardogs error messages are less mysterious once you establish where the connection or launch process has stopped. A server with no space cannot be fixed by reinstalling the game, while an anti-cheat launch refusal is unlikely to be solved by refreshing the server browser. Read the complete message first, then try the smallest appropriate step: restart the game and Steam, refresh the browser, or verify the installation. Save major Windows, security and firmware changes for a specific official instruction rather than treating them as a universal cure.

Error 1147405308: authentication failed
Error 1147405308 has been reported when Wardogs cannot authenticate a player with its online services. Sportskeeda links it to login queues and connection trouble, including players being returned to the queue after reaching its front. If the same failure is affecting lots of players, it points to capacity or service trouble at the game’s end. Waiting before trying again is more useful than repeatedly changing settings on your PC.
If it appears to affect only you, fully close Wardogs and quit Steam, rather than simply closing its window, before reopening both. You can also check the installation in Steam: open Wardogs’ Properties, select Installed Files and choose Verify integrity of game files. That is a sensible repair step for missing or damaged files, but it will not create room in an overloaded authentication service.
Error 1147405316: the server is full
GearUp identifies 1147405316 as a message that the selected server cannot accept another player or queue entry at that moment. It does not automatically mean Wardogs is offline everywhere. Refresh the browser, look for a server with spare slots and keep the choice in your region where possible. A distant server may get you through the door more quickly, but a worse ping is a fairly miserable prize for winning the queue.
Wardogs’ browser makes this a practical choice rather than a hidden matchmaking decision. Dork’s guide to finding and choosing Wardogs matches explains how player count, open spaces, region and ping can help narrow the options. Avoid sending repeated join requests to the same full server; refresh, select an alternative with capacity and retry after a short interval.
Error 1628505091: connection timed out
According to GearUp’s troubleshooting guide, 1628505091 means the game began connecting to a server but did not finish within the allowed time. Start by testing the scale of the problem. If another server works, refresh the browser and try a different one in the same region. If the browser will not load, several players are reporting the same problem, or the issue coincides with a wider outage, reinstalling is unlikely to change anything. The practical fix is to wait for the service to recover.
When timeouts occur only on your connection, pause downloads, cloud syncing, streams and big uploads before trying again. If you can, testing Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi can help separate an unstable local wireless connection from trouble on the route to Wardogs’ services. Restarting a router is a proportionate check; factory-resetting it is not. Graphics settings also have no bearing on a server’s capacity or whether a connection request times out.
Anti-cheat refusals and WD-L launch codes
A message saying that the anti-cheat service has refused the game executable, or an immediate WD-L launch failure, is different from a full-server message. Wardogs’ Steam listing says it uses the kernel-level anti-cheat Elytra. GamesRadar reports player accounts of conflicts with other anti-cheat software, and recommends beginning with low-risk measures: close potentially conflicting programs, restart the PC, verify Wardogs’ files, then install pending Windows and graphics-driver updates.
Overlays and monitoring software can also affect protected game processes. Temporarily close overlays or tools such as Discord’s overlay, GeForce Experience, MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner, then retry. Change one thing at a time, otherwise troubleshooting turns into an unsolved before-and-after puzzle. If a restart, verification and updates do not help, keep a note of the exact wording and code for a support report rather than escalating immediately to more invasive changes.
Do not assume Secure Boot, TPM or a BIOS setting must be enabled. The material available does not establish these as Wardogs requirements, and firmware changes can have wider consequences, particularly on encrypted drives. An application error such as 0xc000007b may also follow a blocked anti-cheat launch rather than identify a separate DirectX or Visual C++ fault. Deal with the first meaningful error shown before reinstalling components at random.
When to stop troubleshooting
Stop altering local settings when the signs clearly point to Wardogs’ services: widespread authentication failures, a browser that fails for many players, an acknowledged outage or a server that is simply full. Wardogs is in Early Access, and its early stability work has included failed joins, unexpected kicks and long login queues. Those are problems for Bulkhead to resolve, not an invitation to verify the same files until Steam develops a personal grudge.
The same restraint applies to a message explicitly confirming an account ban. Do not try to bypass it; use the relevant appeal process if you believe it is wrong. For other issues, record the full message, the code, when it appeared and whether another server works. That gives support a useful starting point and keeps a queue problem from becoming an afternoon of unnecessary maintenance.
