
Take That is an English pop group formed in Manchester in 1990. The group originally consisted of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen, Jason Orange, and Robbie Williams. Barlow served as the lead singer and primary songwriter, while Owen and Williams provided backing vocals, and Donald and Orange primarily performed as dancers. The band achieved commercial success with 28 top-40 singles, including 20 top-10 and 17 top-5 hits on the UK Singles Chart, with 12 reaching number one. They also released nine number-one albums on the UK Albums Chart. Internationally, Take That accumulated 56 number-one singles and 42 number-one albums. The group received eight Brit Awards, including awards for Best British Group and Best British Live Act, and in 2012, they received an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music. According to the British Phonographic Industry, Take That has been certified for sales of 14.4 million albums and 14.6 million singles in the UK. Robbie Williams left the band in 1995, and the remaining members completed a world tour and released a final single before disbanding in 1996.
