The War on Drugs is an American rock band from Philadelphia formed in 2005. The band includes Adam Granduciel (vocals, guitar), David Hartley (bass), Robbie Bennett (keyboards), Charlie Hall (drums), Jon Natchez (saxophone, keyboards), Anthony LaMarca (guitar), and Eliza Hardy Jones (percussion, keyboards). The band was initially founded by Granduciel and Kurt Vile, who left after the release of their debut album, Wagonwheel Blues, in 2008. Since then, Granduciel has been the band's primary member. Their second album, Slave Ambient, was released in 2011 and received favorable reviews. The third album, Lost in the Dream, came out in 2014 after extensive touring and a period of personal struggles for Granduciel, including loneliness and clinical depression. The album received widespread critical acclaim and increased exposure for the band. During the recording of Lost in the Dream, Charlie Hall joined as the full-time drummer, and Jon Natchez and Anthony LaMarca participated in the band's world tour.
