Gorillaz are an English virtual band created in 1998 by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett. The band consists of four fictional members: 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs. Their universe is depicted through music videos, interviews, comic strips, and short cartoons. Damon Albarn is the sole consistent musical contributor, with the band featuring collaborations with various artists. Gorillaz's music marks a departure from Albarn's work with Blur, incorporating genres such as hip hop, electronic, and world music. Their debut album, 'Gorillaz', released in 2001, includes influences from trip hop, punk rock, dub, and Latin music, and achieved triple platinum status in the UK and double platinum in Europe, driven by the success of the single 'Clint Eastwood'. Their second album, 'Demon Days', released in 2005, attained six times platinum in the UK and double platinum in the US, and featured hit singles such as 'Feel Good Inc.', 'Dare', 'Dirty Harry', and 'El Mañana'.
