Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer born on 2 July 1991. He is of Engenni Ijaw descent from Ahoada West, Rivers State. Burna Boy gained recognition in 2012 with the release of the single 'Like to Party', from his debut studio album L.I.F.E, released in 2013. In 2017, he signed a record deal with Atlantic Records and Warner Music Group. His third studio album, Outside, released in 2018, marked his major label debut. Burna Boy's fourth studio album, African Giant, was released in 2019 and received the Album of the Year award at the All Africa Music Awards, as well as a nomination for Best World Music Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. In 2020, he was awarded African Artist of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards and released his fifth studio album, Twice as Tall, which won the Best World Music Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. He has won the BET Award for Best International Act three times, including in 2021.
