Hannah Harding, known professionally as Aldous Harding, is an indie folk singer-songwriter from Lyttelton, New Zealand. She was born in 1990 as Hannah Sian Topp. Harding gained recognition with her self-titled debut album, which was inspired by English folk music. She signed a contract with the label 4AD and collaborated with producer John Parish in Wales. Her 2017 album Party was described by The Guardian as "world-storming," and she has been noted for her "elastic and shape-shifting voice," enigmatic lyrics, and eccentric performances and videos. Her 2019 album Designer was characterized as "shimmering psychedelic pop" that was "warm and full of humor," and was considered "simply extraordinary" by critics. Metacritic ranked Designer as the seventh most critically acclaimed album of 2019, and it was also among the most shared albums of that year. The single "The Barrel" earned her the APRA Silver Scroll Award. In 2022, she released Warm Chris, which continued to receive critical acclaim.
