Download is a Canadian electronic music group formed in 1994 by Dwayne Goettel and Kevin Crompton (also known as cEvin Key) of Skinny Puppy. The initial lineup also included Phil Western of Off & Gone and Mark Spybey of Dead Voices on Air, but the group's membership has been fluid, with Key and Western remaining the only constant members following Goettel's death. Their music has been described as post-industrial, combining elements of their origins with stylistic similarities to artists such as Aphex Twin and Autechre. The group's primary instrumentation involves synthesizers and sampled instruments, with a focus on percussion and rhythm. Other artists involved with Download include Genesis P. Orridge, Anthony Valcic, Bill Van Rooy, and Ken Marshall. Early releases often featured vocal elements and lyrics, but since the album III and the departure of Spybey in 1996, their work has been strictly instrumental.
