Fleetwood Mac is a British-American rock band formed in London in 1967 by guitarist and singer Peter Green. The band was named after drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie, who was an early member. Initially, Fleetwood Mac performed as a British blues band and achieved a UK number one single in 1968 with the instrumental 'Albatross.' They also reached the UK top ten with songs such as 'Man of the World,' 'Oh Well,' and 'The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown).' Green left the band in May 1970, and Christine McVie, wife of bassist John McVie, joined as an official member two months later, contributing vocals and keyboards after initially working as a session musician. During the early years, other notable members included Jeremy Spencer, Danny Kirwan, and Bob Welch. By the end of 1974, these members had departed, leaving the band without a guitarist and male singer. Over the course of their career, Fleetwood Mac sold more than 120 million records worldwide, establishing themselves as one of the best-selling musical acts. The band experienced various lineup changes and musical shifts over the decades, maintaining a significant presence in rock music.
