Xscape is an American girl group formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1990 by Kandi Burruss, Tamera Coggins, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, LaTocha Scott, and Tamika Scott. Coggins left the group in 1991, after which Xscape became a quartet. The group was signed to Jermaine Dupri's So So Def label. Their debut album, 'Hummin' Comin' at 'Cha,' was released in 1993 and included two top-ten Billboard Hot 100 hits, "Just Kickin' It" and "Understanding." The album sold over one million copies in the United States, earning a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Their second album, 'Off the Hook,' was released in 1995 and also achieved platinum status, with singles "Feels So Good" and "Who Can I Run To" certified gold. The group's third album, 'Traces of My Lipstick,' came out in 1998 and was certified platinum. Xscape disbanded in 1999 to pursue solo projects but reformed in 2017. In early 2018, Burruss briefly left the group, and the remaining members performed as Xscap3, releasing the extended play 'Here for It' in March 2018. In late 2022, LaTocha Scott left the group to focus on her solo career, leaving Xscape performing as a trio. As of 2023, Xscape has sold more than 12 million records in the United States and has achieved six top-ten Billboard Hot 100 songs.
