How Brandy and Monica are connected to Ariana Grande’s ‘the boy is mine’
Brandy and Monica appear in Ariana Grande’s 2024 video and sing on its remix, but Grande’s song is a homage to their 1998 hit rather than a cover or sample.
Lyrics
Rather Be
[Chorus]
I'd rather be kissing you, baby (Yeah)
I'd rather be kissing you, baby (Yeah)
I don't need your extras, just give you to me (I, I)
I'd rather be kissing you, baby (Yeah)
[Verse 1]
Just call me more, a little
Your voice, it makes me feel better
Why you even tryna ignore me?
Boy, there's other ways to get my attention
Just be here for me, baby, I
[Chorus]
I'd rather be kissing you, baby (Yeah, I)
I'd rather be kissing you, baby (Yeah, oh)
I don't need your extras, just give you to me (I, I)
I'd rather be kissing you, baby (Yeah)
[Verse 2]
You know I love you down deep within
You're my best friend
When we are together, it feels like forever
Ain't nobody like you
Kissing me the way you do
You's a real one, ooh, ooh-ooh (Talk about it, babe)
Nobody in this world is like us two (Ooh, ooh-ooh)
