Lyrics

Overdose

[Intro: Consequence]

You know, sometimes we go too far

We just end up doing too much

[Chorus: Consequence]

Overdose

We can start fresh in the morning

Long as we don't overdose (Save me)

Overdose, overdose (ooh)

We can start fresh in the morning

Long as we don't overdose (Save me)

Overdose, overdose (ooh)

[Post-Chorus: YNW Melly & Consequence]

If I shall die before I wake (ooh)

I pray to the lord, the drugs I take

Don't make my friends have to come to my wake

Don't make me lose every crumb on my plate

[Verse 1: Consequence]

This for all the kids that are 18 and over

But their self-esteem is on 8th seat or lower

Please, just wake me up when it's over

It's been the same nightmare over and over

See, we been over masses, we came over from Africa

But overcame the fact that they overpowered the pathages

A classic case of brains over brawn

Buyin' chains to the accountant, your name is overdrawn

So this for every crackhead who overdid it, homes

If you ain't grow up black you wouldn't get it, homes

They left they kid at home, to buy a bag of coke

Now there's a new generation waitin' to overdose

[Chorus: Consequence]

Overdose

We can start fresh in the morning

Long as we don't overdose (Save me, ooh)

Overdose, overdose (ooh)

We can start fresh in the morning

Long as we don't overdose (Save me, ooh)

Overdose, overdose (ooh)

[Post-Chorus: YNW Melly & Consequence]

If I shall die before I wake (ooh)

I pray to the lord, the drugs I take

Don't make my friends have to come to my wake

Don't make me lose every crumb on my plate

[Verse 2: Consequence]

I wish life was an overnight success story

But heartache tend to write the best stories

The best stories are the ones that's most embarassin'

Every family's got a fiend whose embarrassed them

I got an uncle on my mom's side, we was close

He used to hustle part-time and started shootin' dope

And that's the first step, just do the addition

12 more steps, now we dealin' with addiction

If you got addicts in your family, then hold them close

If you got static with your family, then let it go

'Cause now we got our own lil' mans we gotta show the ropes

Or there's a new generation waiting to overdose

[Chorus: Consequence]

Overdose

We can start fresh in the morning

Long as we don't overdose (Save me, ooh)

Overdose, overdose (ooh)

We can start fresh in the morning

Long as we don't overdose (Save me, ooh)

Overdose, overdose (ooh)

[Bridge: YNW Melly & Ant Clemons]

If I shall die before I wake, wake (ooh)

All you ever need is yourself (ooh)

I pray to the lord (ooh)

It's easier to blame yourself (ooh, yeah, why)

[Outro: Ant Clemons]

Overdose

We can start fresh in the morning

Long as we don't overdose

Overdose, overdose

We can start fresh in the morning

Long as we don't overdose

Overdose, overdose
