[Spoken]
"No Good Deed," I mean, this to me is as big as "Defying Gravity"
I mean, her voice is so huge here, and she makes it feel like butter
This is the moment where the Wicked Witch accepts herself to be the Wicked Witch
Not just a person leaving a place, not just a person saying, "I don't need this anymore"
This is a person who says, "I am this, and I need this space, and I have this army"
Cynthia's vocal on that is incredible, and then what she did live when, when it was shot
Whew, I mean, I mean, over and over and over
Like, I, I, I don't know how she did what she did
It was just, it was absolutely extraordinary
Cynthia's a powerhouse, and she just tore into it
And I remember hearing her sing it, and it was like all her hair just blew back
Because there was so much power and ferocity in her performance
It's what I always want from that song, and she just delivers it just completely
What I love about singing as Elphaba is that all of her songs are turning points in her story, in her life, in her growth
And so it feels like every time we sing a new song, there's something that she realizes about herself or has to learn about herself, whether it's easy or not
Uh, and there are always decisions to be made in these songs
It feels really powerful to be able to use music in that way
