Lyrics

Better

[Verse 1]

Life still strings me along

So I never ring the alarm

I hide away like nobody gets my charm

And you can't steal home from me

If you wanna try you can test my arm

Smoke like a fog machine

Oh and it's all I breathe

Oh [?]

Oh it's all I see

Wine, cheese squares, at the end of your rat maze

Mom's got the shopping fetish

Pop's got their man caves

Some of us drugs, some of us cars

Some of us blueberry pancakes

Some of us, well it's alcohol

And without that some of our hands shake

Face all discolored

Not supposed to be this color

When are we going to discover that

None of us need all this cover, oh

We gotta sit back less

We gotta go hunt more

One of those things we run from

One of those things we run for

Escape, run away, run away cause you want more

But fate's gonna knock up, gonna knock up at your front door

[Hook]

I've been staying up all night wandering the streets

I don't know what I'm lookin' for

I've been staying up all night wandering the streets

I don't know what I'm lookin' for

I'm just tryna get better, I'm just tryna get better

I'm just tryna get better, I'm just tryna get better

[Verse 2]

Maybe like Johnny B. Goode

I'm more like Donny I'm off in the woods

Not in the 'burbs, not in the hoods, wherever I'm going

It's not what I should

I was runnin' and runnin' and runnin'

Now I am diggin' and diggin' and diggin'

I will never go catch my own tail

I can never get back to beginnin'

They say born for that and maybe built for this

And if you weren't, there's a pill for this

That's kissy faces and hissy fits

I keep pushin, I'm Sisyphus

I'm too broke to be Johnny Cash

Too poor for a body cast

My insurance isn't all of that

No ambulance, we're not calling that

I tough it out, that's the Irish side

Rise and grind, no five-to-nine

And I'm feeling cornered like a Five & Dine

And they're watching me like a private eye

Can't find the brakes, maybe I'll crash

Maybe I'll break, maybe I'll crack

Maybe I'll float, maybe I won't

Maybe I'll stay here all night in the cold

[Hook]
