Amoeba Music’s Sunset Boulevard store is set to become a massive tower block

They're not going anywhere yet, though.
Iconic Los Angeles record store Amoeba Music has been sold to developers.

The independent chain’s Sunset Boulevard store, which opened in 2001, looks set to be replaced by a 20+ story glass tower, including a rooftop swimming pool. Public records show a sale for $34m in October of 2015.

However, Amoeba, which has two other stores in California, has published a statement saying they’re remaining for the duration of their lease, which still has several years left to run, and the new owners are potentially open to them staying longer.
