Balancing Act are back with their intimate yet anthemic new single ‘Scar’

London quartet Balancing Act blend intimate pop with arena-ready sounds in their new single ‘Scar’, written during a French countryside retreat.

Artists: Balancing Act

Balancing Act have returned with new single ‘Scar’, marking their first release following a writing period in the French countryside.

The London-based quartet’s latest track bridges intimate bedroom pop and arena-ready sounds, with vocalist Kai Roberts explaining the creative process: “It feels like a cocktail of everything we’ve done up to this. It doesn’t feel like a new sound, it just feels like the Pokémon effect is taking place and we’re just moving onto the second phase where the little yellow guy gets a bit more weird and gnarly looking.”

Roberts continues: “It sort of fell out of the sky – it only took an evening to write and figure out. It’s pulling from everything that gets us going, from Massive Attack to Muse, and ever so slightly touching on Eminem. We’ve never been a band with one sound, that does my head in.”

The band, comprising Roberts, Jackson Couzens (guitar), David Carpenter (bass) and Pat Hanbury (drums), first established themselves with 2022 debut EP ‘Tightropes and Limericks’.
