Candy Hearts are currently snaking their way across America on the Vans Warped Tour and, with the release of an acoustic EP imminent, have shared a new song. 'I Want To Hate You' is lifted from the five-track 'Acoustic Hearts' EP and is everything you'd expect from a jangly slice of sugary stripped back pop-punk. Premiering via SubStream, the Brand New referencing 'I Want To Hate You' is one of two new songs featured on the EP and is, according to Mariel Loveland, about dealing with "that feeling you have when you’re dating someone who you know doesn’t treat you well and you can’t help but take it because being without them seems worse than whatever bad things they do to you."
'Acoustic Hearts' is out July 3rd and features new tracks alongside reworked versions of 'All The Ways You Let Me Down' cuts. The tracklisting is as follows. I Want To Hate You In And Out Brooklyn Bridge Top Of Our Lungs Something's Missing In an interview with Billboard, Mariel explained the thinking behind this EP. "This is how the songs sound to me when I play them for the very first time in my bedroom, before we add the loud drums and distorted guitars. I think there's a certain magic in the rawness of just a singer and a guitar and that's what we tried to mimic in this EP. We wanted to make it sound like you could be in the bedroom next us, hearing us play these songs for the first time."
