Glass Animals are marking ten years of their second album 'How To Be A Human Being' with a one-night event at The Mildmay Club in London on Friday 21st August, presented by Dork.
The night brings together an in-conversation Q&A with frontman Dave Bayley on the making of the record, a full playback of the album, an official gallery dedicated to it, and DJ sets from Bayley, bassist Edmund Irwin-Singer and Dork DJs.
The album itself landed on 26th August 2016, with Bayley producing and with a structure he'd built on the road: eleven songs, eleven characters, each one drawn from a person he met or a story he was told while touring debut album 'Zaba'. All eleven were then cast and photographed by Neil Krug for the sleeve, which you can also see on the poster below.
Some of it came from proper eavesdropping. The pineapple hook that runs through 'Pork Soda' arrived via a man Bayley overheard on the street. "I heard a homeless man talking to someone once and say 'pineapples are in my head'," he explained at the time. "In retrospect, I'm pretty sure it wasn't actually those words, but I thought it was at the time, and it kind of stuck with me."
Ten years on, there are still pineapples flying around at Glass Animals shows. The album went on to a Mercury Prize nomination in 2017, and set up the global superstardom that followed. It also saw the band grace the cover of Dork for the first - but definitely not last - time (see the picture above, from that very shoot for our second EVER issue, etc etc - Ed).

Join both before 4pm Wednesday 5th of August to get access. The presale opens on Thursday 6th August at 5pm, with any remaining tickets going on general sale on Friday 7th August at 10am.
