Holly Macve has a brand new single, ‘Daddy’s Gone’ – watch the video now

It’s taken from her new album, ‘Not The Girl’, set to drop this May.

Artists: Holly Macve

Fresh from announcing her debut album, Holly Macve has debuted a brand new single, ‘Daddy’s Gone’.

Arriving alongside an accompanying video, Holly explains: “I dug out some 90’s VHS family footage of my first home in Galway, Ireland. I was born in the white house shown in the video, but have no memories of it as we left when I was very young. I hadn’t seen the footage before so it was an emotional experience to watch and edit but I was excited and inspired to use it alongside ‘Daddy’s Gone’ as it felt so relevant.

“It was a few years back when I was on tour in Austin, Texas that I got the call to say my Dad had passed away. I remember keeping this news to myself and quietly shedding some tears whilst trying to figure out my emotions. It was a strange feeling, I didn’t know my Dad and had conflicting thoughts about him. It took me a while to understand how I felt but eventually it came out in this song. Often song-writing is a way for me to understand myself, it’s the best way for me to articulate how I’m feeling and that was definitely the case with ‘Daddy’s Gone’. Sometimes you can feel vulnerable sharing such personal words but I hope that anyone who’s had a similar experience can relate and find comfort in knowing that they’re not alone.”

The album, titled ‘Not The Girl’, follows on from 2017 debut ‘Golden Eagle’, and is set for release on 14th May.
