Harry Styles is curating
Meltdown Festival, and now the first names for the programme, which runs from 11th to 21st June across the venue's multiple spaces, has been revealed.
Among the artists selected by Styles are
Devonté Hynes, Kamasi Washington, Warpaint, Mulatu Astatke, Nilüfer Yanya, Jon Hopkins, bar italia, Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Erika de Casier, Foushée, Shabaka Hutchings, Yussef Dayes, James Murphy, Orlando Weeks, Stephen Fretwell, Ninajirachi and
Getdown Services.
Styles himself will take to the Royal Festival Hall stage on 16th June for a headline performance, with further details still to come.
On the programme he has assembled, Styles said: "Music is my life, every artist involved in this year's Meltdown festival means so much to me, both as a fan, and a musician. It's a true honour to host legends who have paved the way for the generations that follow them, as well as new acts that have inspired me to push my creative boundaries. There are some incredibly unique, one-of-a-kind performances planned and the Southbank Centre is such a special place to experience live music. I hope attendees and performers have an unforgettable time this year at Meltdown. I can't wait!"
Previous Meltdown curators include Little Simz, Chaka Khan, Grace Jones, David Byrne, Yoko Ono, Nile Rodgers, M.I.A., David Bowie and Patti Smith. Southbank Centre Members can purchase tickets from 9th April, with general sale following on 10th April.
