Julia Jacklin has shared her new single ‘The Hardest Thing’, the latest preview of her upcoming fourth album ‘The Gem’.
Following ‘I Wish’ and ‘Get Away From Me (I Think I’ll Love You Soon)’, the track arrives alongside a one-shot video directed by Danny Cohen. Filmed entirely from a helicopter, it follows Jacklin through the Melbourne city skyline.
‘The Gem’ is set for release on 25th September. Produced by Jacklin alongside Robert Muinos, the ten-track record was recorded in Melbourne over the course of a year, with sessions taking place at Rat Shack studios above the Collingwood pub that gives the album its name.
“I want to love and be loved, but I also want to be free,” Jacklin says of the record. “The tension between those two things has been the central question of my life.”
Jacklin will follow the album with a North American tour this autumn before heading to the UK and Europe in early 2027. She has also rescheduled two solo in-store shows and signings for Liverpool and Nottingham to 30th November and 1st December respectively.
