Lizzy McAlpine is dealing with the inevitability of sunk relationships with her new track, ‘doomsday’

The track arrives alongside a Gus Black directed video for which Lizzy wrote the script, and marks her first solo release of the year.

Fast-rising Lizzy McAlpine has unveiled a new song, ‘doomsday’.

The track arrives alongside a Gus Black directed video for which Lizzy wrote the script, and marks her first solo release of the year.

“This song is about being in a relationship that is so toxic that you know it’s doomed and preparing yourself for that eventuality,” Lizzy explains. “It’s heavy in funeral metaphors, because heartbreak to me is like a death and that’s where I got the concept for the skeleton look in the music video. This song also starts a new phase for me and my sound and it’s extremely exciting to be able to break out of the Give Me A Minute box and step into a more mature version of myself as an artist.”

Lizzy will embark on a North American tour with Dodie early next year, with UK dates to be announced soon. There’ll be more news on new music too.

An atmospheric, brooding, yet satisfyingly opulent show stopper, you can check out the video for ‘doomsday’ below.
