Mark Lanegan, frontman of Screaming Trees and member of Queens of the Stone Age, has died, aged 57

A statement posted via social media confirmed the news.

Mark Lanegan, frontman of Screaming Trees and member of Queens of the Stone Age, has passed away at the age of 57, it has been confirmed.

A post made on his official Twitter account earlier today (Tuesday 22nd February) reads: “Our beloved friend Mark Lanegan passed away this morning at his home in Killarney, Ireland.

“A beloved singer, songwriter, author and musician he was 57 and is survived by his wife Shelley.

“No other information is available at this time. We ask Please respect the family privacy.”

The American singer-songwriter, author and musician was known best for his work as a solo artist, as well as with Screaming Trees, Queens of the Stone Age, the Gutter Twins, Mark Lanegan Band and more. He also collaborated with many other musicians of notes, including Kurt Cobain, Moby, Neko Case and more.

Last year he released a collaborative album, ‘Dark Mark vs Skeleton Joe’, alongside The Icarus Line’s Joe Cardamone. Devil In A Coma, his book detailing his experience conducting Covid-19, was released last December.
