Los Angeles-based producer and musician Rusty Santos has shared his new single ‘Let’s Get Started Already’ featuring Jesse Lee (Gang Gang Dance) and Abigail Chapin.
The track, recorded in an upstate New York commune, taps into Rusty’s outsider-folk roots, recalling the sonic textures of his early work on Animal Collective’s ‘Sung Tongs’.
“The politics in the U.S. right now made me realize artists can’t stay neutral. Everything I create must come from love and positive intent – hatred can’t be fought with more hatred. Right now, the most oppositional action I can take artistically is to make psychedelic music—to shine a light into the shadows,” Rusty explains.
The track is streaming everywhere from today (Tuesday 15th April).
Rusty is set to perform at Non Plus Ultra, a non-profit organisation in L.A. dedicated to underground artists on Saturday 19th April.
