This is an emergency! Shura has returned with a brand new track ‘BKLYNLDN’

It’s the first taster of her second album, due to arrive later this year.

Artists: Shura

After ‘quite the wait’, Shura has returned with a brand new track.

Titled ‘BKLYNLDN’, the fresh cut is available now via new label home Secretly Canadian, and is the first taster of her second album. The follow up to 2016’s ‘Nothing’s Real’, it’s set to arrive later this year.

Describing her new music, Shura explains: “with ‘BKLYNLDN’ I wanted to explore having both a sonic & lyrical evolution. It’s about desire – playing with the idea of it being all consuming and at times overwhelming. It starts with the immediacy of physical desire – ‘this isn’t love’ and yet as the song unfolds that sentiment begins to unravel; I am clearly in love and instead of my girlfriend coming to London, I end up moving Brooklyn. I wanted to capture that reversal and for me that section feels like my summer, skipping through Brooklyn, holding hands with my girlfriend and singing out loud without caring about how stupid you look.”

Alongside the new material comes a video – directed by Woman’s Hour’s Fiona Jane Burgess, and a new live date at London’s Roundhouse on 14th November. Tickets for the show go on pre-sale on Tuesday 12th March at 10am, with general sale starting on Thursday, 14th March.
