About Band of Skulls
Band of Skulls are an English rock band from Southampton, Hampshire. The band was formed in 2002 by vocalist and guitarist Russell Marsden, vocalist and bassist Emma Richardson, and drummer Matt Hayward. The members met in college, with Marsden and Hayward having known each other since high school. Hayward left the band in 2017, and Richardson departed in 2022. Since then, Marsden has continued the project as a solo endeavor. The band released five studio albums, with their most recent being Love Is All You Love in April 2019.
Russell Marsden and Emma Richardson reflect on the band’s shift from bluesy guitars to upbeat pop as a vehicle for change. “It was a risk,” they explain.
