Cypress Hill is an American hip-hop group formed in South Gate, California in 1988. They are recognized as one of the first Latin American groups to achieve mainstream success in hip-hop. The group has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and has received multi-platinum and platinum certifications. Their first five albums received critical acclaim. Cypress Hill is considered a significant influence on West Coast hip-hop and 1990s hip-hop. The group members advocate for the medical and recreational use of cannabis in the United States. In 2019, Cypress Hill became the first hip-hop group to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
