About Father John Misty
Joshua Michael Tillman, born May 3, 1981, is an American musician known by his stage name Father John Misty. He began his career in Seattle in the early 2000s, releasing albums under the name J. Tillman that featured a folk sound and intimate lyrics. In 2003, he opened for Damien Jurado on tour after one of his demos reached Jurado. Tillman joined Fleet Foxes as their drummer during the tour for their first record and contributed to their second album, Helplessness Blues (2011). He left the band shortly after completing that album and adopted the stage name Father John Misty. His debut album under this name, Fear Fun (2012), marked a shift to a more indie rock sound and included satirical lyrics. His second album, I Love You, Honeybear (2015), was widely acclaimed and was described as a concept album based on his relationship with his wife, Emma.
