About Gang of Youths
Gang of Youths is an Australian alternative rock band formed in 2012. The group relocated to England in 2017. The lineup since 2020 includes David Le'aupepe on lead vocals, rhythm guitar, and piano; Max Dunn on bass guitar; Jung Kim on guitar and keyboards; Donnie Borzestowski on drums; and Tom Hobden on violin, rhythm guitar, and keyboards. Founding member Joji Malani, who played lead guitar and provided backing vocals, left the band in 2019 to return to Australia. Their debut studio album, The Positions, was released in 2015 and received multiple ARIA Award nominations; it peaked at number five on the Australian albums chart and featured the single 'Magnolia,' which has been described as their breakthrough hit and was certified platinum in 2018. In 2017, they released their second studio album, Go Farther in Lightness, which included their first Australian top 50 single, 'Let Me Down Easy.' The album debuted at number one in Australia and was nominated for eight awards at the 2017 ARIA Music Awards, winning four, including Album of the Year, Best Group, Best Rock Album, and Producer of the Year for the group and Adrian Breakspear.
Performed live in session for SiriusXM station The Spectrum, it comes quickly after the release of the band's first album in five years, 'angel in realtime'.
