About Grimes
Grimes, born Claire Elise Boucher on March 17, 1988, is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. She is known for her work that often explores themes of science fiction, feminism, and fantasy. Boucher was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, and began releasing music independently after moving to Montreal, Quebec, in 2006. She released two albums, Geidi Primes and Halfaxa, in 2010 on Arbutus Records. She later signed with 4AD and gained prominence with her 2012 album, Visions, which received the Canadian music industry Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year and produced singles such as "Genesis" and "Oblivion." Her fourth studio album, Art Angels, was released in 2015 and was named the best album of the year by several publications. Her fifth studio album, Miss Anthropocene, was released in 2020. Outside of her music career, Boucher provided a voice role in the 2020 video game Cyberpunk 2077 and served as a judge on the music competition show Alter Ego. She has three children with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.
